Building self esteem in young girls through programs that encourage self confidence.
Providing a safe avenue for young girls to learn about their sexuality and the dignity of their bodies. We offer a helpline for girls to call and make enquiries about personal sexuality concerns.
We have helped rape victims by providing counseling and direction.
With the epidemic of child abuse we also educate the very young ladies about self awareness and equip them with the skills to recognize and dangers.
Girls are highly disadvantaged in receiving education. The poor socioeconomic climate of the community where we work automatically selects these girls out from the Education worthy population, whereby boys are chosen over the girls. After primary school the girls end up in forced early marriages with attendant problems and that brings their educational journey to a screeching halt. Camomile Cares provides education support to these girls by granting scholarships to eligible candidates.
We have also put some of these girls in paid employments to help them save towards their education.
Girls are commonly socio-economically disadvantaged. This further increases their vulnerability, exposing hem toabuse and dangerous lifestyles. We introduce and train these girls in basic income generating skills that will enable them earn a living and achieve economic independence.
We teach bead making, make up, hair making and other basic skills to our girls.
On October 17th, 2018, a beautiful 13 year old girl died from the complications of the long standing sexual molestation she suffered at the hands of her aunt's husband and his son. The abuse began when she was only 9 years old. She had gone to live with them in order to receive a better education. Her death evoked a major uproar in the entire country. Daily, young girls like her continue to suffer untold abuses at the hands of people who should protect them. Ochanya lives on in the countless young girls who cry silently in pain wishing someone would hear them.
In her memoriam and to create awareness of the danger of abuse we created the Annual Ochanya Is Not Dead seminar and essay competition for secondary school students.
To address the problem of sporadic child abuse we have established the Annual International Essay competition amongst secondary school students all over the world. Prices for the first three top candidates will announced next year.
